New York's Empire State Building provides some of the best views of the city, particularly at night. Just be prepared for a bit of a queue; between 10,000 and 20,000 people visit daily. On a clear day, you can see for almost 80 miles from the observatory. The observatory, located on the 86th floor at 320m (1,050 ft), gives panoramic views from within a glass enclosed pavilion and from the surrounding open-air promenade.
