It is amazing to think that London developed into the gargantuan multicultural community of today from a miniscule settlement on the banks of the River Thames, following the Roman invasion of 43 AD. Named Londinium in those ancient days, Englands spectacular capital is now comfortably Europes largest city with a population approaching 9.5 million.
